The N.C. Child Support Council recently presented Wake County District Court Judge Kristin Ruth with its Service in Excellence Award for her meritorious contributions in the area of child support.
Judge Ruth was selected for the award for advocating several innovative approaches to improve the delivery of services in the area of child support. These approaches include promoting the installation of a computer in the judge’s chambers which case managers may use to access additional information without having to return to their offices, volunteering to be assigned to child support court for six months to better track compliance with court orders, ordering defendants to participate in programs designed to assist them in becoming employed to their full potential and sentencing non-custodial parents who are found in contempt to house arrest rather than conventional incarceration.
